Whatsapp adds Snapchat-like camera features

In a bid to take on Snapchat, Facebook is leaving no stone unturned. In a latest, WhatsApp has introduced new stickers in its camera features that have originally been used by Snapchat.

With the new camera features, users write or draw on photos and videos, as well as add emoji to express themselves. When a new photo or video is captured or shared like ones that are already on a user’s phone, they will automatically see the new editing tools. The WhatsApp camera feature further supports the front-facing flash and added a zooming feature for recording videos.

These new camera features were rolled out on Android phones yesterday and are expected on iPhone soon.

Here's a puzzle: Google appears to have started work on a completely new operating system, but no one knows quite what it's for. The project's name is Fuchsia, and it currently exists as a growing pile of code on the search giant's code depository and on GitHub, too. Bengaluru-based Babajob, an online livelihood marketplace has advertised for a new job category 'The Pokemon Catcher' with applicants required to have "a vast knowledge of the Pokemon database."

We miss all the pokéball throws we don’t take. Sometimes we miss the ones we make, too. A man named Jon Cleaver knows this, so he created a case for the iPhone 6 that includes a pokéball aimer. We might never miss a Gyarados again, or even a Pidgey.

Cleaver put his plans for the pokéball case online. You can 3D print it yourself. We tried it out on Facebook, only to discover that our 3D printer wasn’t big enough for the job. Oh well!

NEW DELHI: If you are a hardcore Pokemon Go fan who's always in the search of Pokemon, then this new-found tool is just for you. A developer has found a way to use Google Maps to show the location of all the Pokemon, gyms, and items at individual Pokestops. The developer Ahmed Almutawa, as per a post on Reddit, was able to take out the raw data from the augmented reality game and lay it out on Google Maps. The developer also posted the project on GitHub.

Only a true Pokémon fan knows the importance of starting their journey with a Pikachu and here's a trick to get him.

Pokémon GO is a phenomena that does not need an introduction anymore. Even if you were not a fan of the anime, you are bound to try this Augmented Reality (AR) game one time or another. But for those who know the saga, the importance of having Pikachu as your first Pokémon is pretty evident.

Pikachu is Ash Ketchum’s original Pokémon in the series, and doesn’t travel in the PokéBall with him. Pikachu is a favourite with anyone who has watched the series, and thus a lot of fans are dying to get their hands on this Pokémon.

So how can you make Pikachu the first Pokémon you start with? Here’s the hack explained.

Once you’ve set up the game, as a novice Pokémon master you will get the option of choosing one of three starter Pokémons – Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander. In the series, Ash is late to his meeting with Professor Oaks (who is giving away the Pokémons) and ends up getting Pikachu. Initially the two don’t get along, but later become friends.

In the Pokémon  Go games, we have a Professor Willow, who lets you choose between the initial trio and they spawn on the map in front of you. But if you want Pikachu, don’t engage with these Pokémons.

A user must simply walk away from them until they disappear, and re-appear on your screen. After you do this four or five times, Pikachu will appear next to them. This might take some patience, as the game tries to keep the Pokémon on your screen, so don’t give up quite easily.

And what if you’ve already started your game and have captured another Pokémon?  Sign-in from a different Gmail account to start the game again. Note this means you’ll lose progress with the other account and you might not want to do that if you are controlling some gyms already. Gyms are where you train your Pokémons to battle.

Or if you can’t be bothered to wait for Pikachu to appear, just wait for him to show up around you. Don’t worry, it will happen as Pikachu is not extremely rare. One might appear when you get an egg, after a two kilometre walk.

Google has announced that the next version of Android, codenamed “N”, will be called Nougat, bitterly dividing opinion among its fans.

Nougat, which has been in developer and early-adopter preview for the last few months since being announced at Google’s I/O developer conference in May, will be the 14th distinct iteration of Android, labeled Android 7.0.

Google announced Android 7 simply as “N” and put out a call for suggestions of names starting with N. Most previous versions of Android have come with a confectionary or sweet-based code name.

The Android Nougat, although similar to the Android Marshmallow in terms of user interface, comes with several new features. It adds support for multi-window mode as well as has more dynamic notification system. 

Nougat, for those who haven’t had the pleasure, is a chewy sugar or honey-based whipped egg-white sweet that often contains nuts. It isthe main body of a Snickers bar, previously known as a Marathon.

Opinion on whether Nougat is tasty is also divided. Either way, new Android 7 Nougat should start making its way on to devices from September, and features upgraded battery-saving Doze features, more advanced split-screen multitasking and improved notifications.

Although, if Marshmallow’s adoption rate is a predictor, having only just passed 10% of Android devices out there after nine months on the market, it could take over a year to become common, even for new smartphones and tablets.
